Wasn't the Rose & Thorn Party such a great one
this past Saturday? Such positive energy!! and everyone seemed to be
'up'! I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I had to write and tell you, I enjoyed myself more so
then at any other Rose & Thorn party I have attended in the past 2
years!! The knot tying demo was so fun! What a great icebreaker. I got
to know Rose & Thorn members while having a blast. We had some great
conversations and laughs. Thank you to Esox for making the demo
something we could practice as partners and couples. I also really liked
the way the core group and veteran attendees acted as goodwill
ambassadors (as Magnum requested) to the newbies. Introducing them to
people, making them feel welcome. I think this one addition to party
protocol will really help grow membership and participation. Thank you
to the core group and thank you Sadie for giving us Rose & Thorn:) I
hope you new folks had a good time and I hope to see you and everyone
else at the next party.
Probably what most strikes me about the party is that, more than anything, I learned that I know much less than I thought I did. I did not even realize that I had established stereotypes, of a sort, in my mind about the roles of Doms and Subs. At the party various people asked me if I knew about the lifestyle, now I know better than to respond with a simple “yes”. The more I think about it, I realize I know almost nothing. I know the lifestyle exists, I recognize some of the vocabulary and toys, and I’ve played privately a few times, but that is about it. I am, by nature, an insatiably curious person and I am looking forward to when I can attend another event so I can learn. ~ Morgan
I thought the party was great! For the first time I was able to meet and talk about BDSM. The Doms leading the demos were very informative and Eric and Ren had greeted me when I arrived, we talked for a little while they asked some questions and answered mine. All in all I really like the feeling from the group and would like to attend more meetings. ~ William
I must say that I had a lovely time. I had so much fun dressing up and interacting with others, me being in an expressionless mask and unable to speak. It made for interesting conversations. In addition, I learned new things, about not only suspension and safety but also clarifying my own misconceptions about doms and subs. I witnessed a gentle, loving interaction between two partners as opposed to the stereotypical abuse and ridicule of S&M. It was a fabulous evening of food and friendly socializing and I look forward to another costumed celebration. ~ Jennie

Not only was last nights party HUGE it was an unqualified success! Thank you. Thank you and Thank you again! for all you do for our little homegrown community of kinksters. Aside from giving me an opportunity to meet with old friends and acquaintances, I met some wonderful new people! I know you are strong and will hold to your ideals of what R&T should be. Thanks for the invite, the get together and the follow-up. I had a great time. I appreciate being welcomed by everyone. My thanks to Roger for hosting Master Eric, Mistress Ren for the great demo and the Doms and subs for also showing their skill and play. There's a lot to learn about the lifestyle but it will be a pleasure being part of a group of friendly expressive folks at Rose and Thorn. I'm looking forward to future events! ~ Scott
I was amazed at what a civilized event it was and how interesting and good-looking all the people were. The way people held themselves, the way they talked, and how they dressed made me feel like part of something quite special. I felt an intellectual and cultural connection with the group. I left that night feeling quite happy, quite affirmed in my curiosity and identification with the D/s experiences that people were talking about. ~ Eric
I just wanted to thank you and your wonderful group for making this party a GREAT experience for me!! I didn't know walking into a room full of strangers could be so easy, especially for one so wallflowerish as myself. I also wanted to thank you for suggesting that I come alone this last time, I would be a liar to say that I didn't dread coming by myself. In fact I think if I had been able to bow out of coming, I probably would have (and I would have regretted it.) However, you were right, I meet so many more people on my own than what I would have meet if I had come with friends, relying on them as my safety net. You were all a wonderful example of how people should be toward new faces and I appreciated that. I would like to come to the next meeting, so if you can please sign me on. Well, last night was my first Rose and Thorn party! What a NICE group of people! I have to say that I was very impressed by the organization that went into planning it, from the suggestions about what kind of food to bring to the excellent directions. Naturally, I was a bit nervous beforehand, and I want to thank all of you for making me feel very welcome and comfortable! This is a part of myself that I have felt ashamed of and tried to ignore for years, and what a pleasure to talk to people who understand and have similar interests. I was VERY ambivalent about getting locally involved in the scene, but I really think that suppressing myself has been robbing me of feeling truly alive. ~ Leslie

I was glad I went, because it helped me learn a bit more about the scene, and what I want and do not want. I learned a lot listening to people and talking to one of the more experienced guests. I asked him quite a few questions and he was very empathetic towards myself seeking direction in this lifestyle. a non threatening atmosphere, a learning environment, pot luck is always a winner, friendly folks, excellent attention getting poems to start out the nite. ~ Schlimmer

I had a wonderful time! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was delighted at how accepting everyone was. As a "vanilla" type dipping my toes in the BDSM lifestyle, I was really impressed with how wonderful everyone was! I thoroughly enjoyed myself mostly because everyone was not pushy about the lifestyle and also because everyone was just so NICE! ~ Tara
