Rose & Thorn Grievance Process

Do you have a concern or complaint about Rose & Thorn? We want you to know that we care about your concerns and have a Member Liaison to help you figure them out. Whether it's a problem with a fellow guest, or something that happened at one of our events we can help.

Our Grievance Process:

1. The person(s) bringing the grievance or complaint will state, in writing, specifically what the nature of the grievance is, to the member liaison.

2. The person bringing the grievance will state what kind of relief or result they are looking for, or what (specifically) it would take to address the complaint.

3. Both of the above conditions have to be met in order for the membership liaison to consider the grievance.

Once the ML (membership liaison) receives the grievance (in writing, preferably via e-mail), the ML will decide if the grievance is within his/her ability to solve or resolve, gather whatever information is necessary and will subsequently notify the grievant of the decision.

The process of making a decision might include a mediation session among involved parties, if the ML decides that is what is necessary to determine the facts for making the decision. If the ML feels the issue requires consultation with the core group before making a decision, the ML will do so.

Once this procedure is followed, the decision stands, and there is no further appeal. If the person bringing the grievance continues to complain about the issue, the way it was handled or both, in such a way that causes unpleasantness and undermines the peace of the R&T community, it is within the ML's responsibilities to consider permanently removing the grievant from the R&T community, or imposing a "cooling off" period during which the grievant cannot attend R&T events. Because we are a private organization, we have not only the right but also the responsibility to protect the quality of life of our community.
